Matt Swatzell brings a lifelong passion for musical theatre, performance, and education to his work with young performers. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Training and Development, and studied Music and Theatre at Hofstra University in New York.

As a performer, Matt’s stage credits include such roles as Marius in Les Misérables, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Baker in Into the Woods, Sgt. Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Sister Robert Ann in Nunsense; Amen!, Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls, Cat in Honk!, Harvey Johnson in Bye Bye Birdie, and Agwe in Once on This Island, along with countless musical and period stage revues. His ensemble and dance credits include productions such as 42nd Street and Meet Me in St. Louis.

Beyond performing, Matt has worked throughout the theatre world as a Director, School Director, Educator, Choreographer, Vocal Director, Producer, Theatre Owner, and Technical Director. That broad experience gives him a unique perspective on developing well-rounded performers who understand that great musical theatre is about much more than simply singing, acting, or dancing well; it’s about learning how those skills work together to transport audiences.

In Triple Threat, Matt creates a supportive, challenging environment where students can strengthen their vocal and performance skills, build confidence, take creative risks, and discover more of who they are as performers. His goal is to help each student grow while fostering the collaboration, discipline, and joy that make musical theatre such a powerful art form.
